Church History Over 10 years ago, God revealed to Sis. Mary Jane Lightfoot that she would be involved in ministry with Bro. Glenn and Sis. Yoshi Alexander. In fact, she shared this with Sis. Yoshi who laughed in unbelief and said “Oh really? We’ll see.” Over the process of time, God began dealing with Bro. and Sis. Alexander about ministry. Both of them were called and ordained as teachers of God’s Word, but they never thought they would one day become pastors. In August 2004, Bro. Glenn and Sis. Yoshi enrolled in the Mt.. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Bible Institute for intense study. Both of them received a Diploma of Biblical Studies in June 2007, not knowing at the time what God was preparing them for. In July 2007 while visiting Call to Destiny Ministries, God spoke prophetically to Sis. Yoshi about the ministry her and husband would have. Sis. Yoshi chose not to share this with Bro. Glenn, but prayed and pondered on these things for quite some time.
In September 2007 while at an intercessory prayer retreat, God spoke to both Glenn and Yoshi about the ministry’s name. However, neither of them understood at that time what it meant. In October 2007, God confirmed the word to Bro. Glenn that He had spoken to Sis. Yoshi about their ministry. Like her, at first, he was in unbelief…….never desiring to Pastor or begin a new ministry. But God began to speak to Him profoundly. In November 2007, God confirmed to Sis. Yoshi the ministry name…..RUACH MINISTRIES, a Hebrew name meaning the “wind or breath of God.” God also gave her the foundational scripture from Zechariah 4:6b which says, “…..not by might, nor by power, but by spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” God also began to reveal many things about the ministry. In December 2007, after counseling with Pastor Morris, Bro. Glenn publicly announced his call into the ministry. On a second Sunday night vesper service at the First Sixth Street Baptist Church in January 2008, Pastor Wayne Morris announced that God had spoken to him about officially licensing Sis. Yoshi, Sis. Judith Smith and Sis. Yvonne Howard. On February 10, 2008, these three “covenant sisters,” along with Bro. Glenn were officially licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In July 2008, Ruach Ministries International was officially registered with the State of Texas, and on August 9, 2008, the ministry was publicly announced at a summer youth explosion at the couples’ home. On August 1, 2008, God spoke to Sis. Alma Juneau about a faith walk in the area of the proposed church site and again, God began to give revelation about the ministry. As seed money was sowed into the ministry by family and friends, the church building for Ruach Ministries located at 2649 Procter Street was secured, debt free, on September 29, 2008 following Hurricane Ike. On October 14, 2008, the first official meeting of the founding members of Ruach Ministries took place in the Alexander’s home. This group is known as the Presbytery or spiritual elders of the ministry. The founding members are Glenn and Yoshi Alexander, Alma Juneau, Mary Jane Lightfoot, Dallas and Judith Smith, and Clarence and Avaland Thomas. On October 19, 2008, Ministers Glenn and Yoshi announced to the congregation at First Sixth Street Baptist Church that God had called them into ministry. On October 26, 2008, Minister Glenn was ordained as an Apostle/Pastor and Minister Yoshi was ordained as a Pastor under the covering of Call to Destiny International Ministries. On November 2, 2008, the first worship service of Ruach Ministries International was held at the Alexander home and is still being held to this day. On November 5, 2008, at the first Wednesday night Bible study, Pastor Glenn began a study in the book of Acts. This study was completed on July 29, 2009. God has worked many miracles of healing at Ruach Ministries. In addition, many souls have been saved, families have been reunited and strengthened, and the Lord has added to the church as He so willed. Although we are still having church “in the house,” Ruach has had a baby dedication, baccalaureate services, and a wedding. On July 5, 2009, Ruach held its first baptismal service at the pool of the Alexander’s home and baptized over 20 people. On August 5, 2009, Ruach held its first “Going Forth” service in preparation of its first foreign missionary journey. On August 6, 2009, Ruach made its first foreign mission trip to the country of Haiti with 15 missionaries plus 1 from San Antonio. It was an awesome journey. November 2, 2009 marked the first year anniversary of Ruach Ministries. The first year anniversary activities included services with special guests Rhema Word Ministries and Sabbath Rest Ministries. This was our first banquet!!!! Ruach has several active ministries: Intercessory Prayer, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Praise Dance Ministry, Foreign Mission, Radio Ministry, and we are currently developing the New Member Orientation ministry. Future ministries include Married Couples, Singles, a Health Ministry, and a school of ministry. Ruach’s building is currently under renovation and will be completed in the Lord’s timing. We are grateful to God for all that He has done. God is moving at an accelerated pace to accomplish His will and we are trusting Him every step of the way. Ruach is a ministry founded on biblical principles, called locally and internationally to help build the kingdom of God. This ministry is committed to not just building a church, but building a people that God can trust. Please continue to pray for us as we continue on this journey. We will not despise our small beginnings, for we know that “This is just the beginning” and the best is yet to come! God has great things in store and we are well able to go in and posses it, in Jesus’ name! |
